Writing Your Memoir Piece by Piece

Writing Your Memoir Piece by Piece In-Person

Writing a memoir can be a daunting process!  Breaking your narrative up into smaller sections can make the process both more manageable and more rewarding.  In this two-session class, we'll look at flash non-fiction pieces by other authors and use those pieces as prompts to work on our own in-progress memoirs from a variety of different angles: character, setting, image, etc.  We'll also talk about how to set up a writing calendar so you can continue to keep working on your memoir, piece by piece.  As a participant, you will have the opportunity to share your work with others in a supportive and affirming environment.  You do NOT need to be at work on a memoir in order to participate!  Flash non-fiction pieces can be submitted to journals and magazines as essays in their own right.  All experience levels welcome! This workshop is in honor of the late Orlo Otteson, who volunteered his writing skills in the Northfield Public Schools and at the Northfield Public Library.
