Tablet Astronomy
Computing power and screen resolution of mobile devices have increased to the point that they can run apps which are essentially personal planetarium displays. Professor David Nitz of the St. Olaf Physics Department will introduce one of these apps (Stellarium) and demonstrate its ude for stargazing as well as exploring some interesting astronomical phenomena at the Northfield Public Library on Monday Oct. 23, 7-8pm. This program is free and open to the public. The library can provide 10 iPads for use that evening. Advance sign up is required for Library iPad use. IMPORTANT NOTE: You may attend using your own tablet or smart phone but must download the Stellarium app in advance ($3). For more information, call the library at 507-645-6606.
